Mangalore-based Maav Industries Ltd., a pioneer in sustainable manufacturing, has significantly expanded its recycling operations to advance India’s circular economy goals. The company now processes over 225 tons of plastic waste every month and aims to scale up to 300+ tons per month by 2026 — a critical step in a nation that generates nearly 26,000 tonnes of daily plastic waste but recycles only a small portion.

The expansion includes launching new product lines made entirely from recycled plastics, allowing more post-use materials to be reintegrated into Maav’s production cycle. At its Yeyyadi and Baikampady facilities, Maav has upgraded recycling systems with state-of-the-art sorting, washing, shredding, and extrusion technologies, enhancing operational efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and extending material lifecycles.

To secure a steady supply of post-consumer plastic, Maav is setting up decentralized collection hubs across Karnataka. These hubs will collect waste directly from households, institutions, and local businesses, increasing community participation in waste management and improving collection speed and efficiency.

In line with regulatory compliance, Maav works with authorized plastic waste aggregators and recyclers to ensure environmentally sound practices under India’s Plastic Waste Management Rules. The company also partners with local authorities and NGOs to raise awareness on the importance of segregation at source and to drive public participation in recycling initiatives.

“For us, sustainability is about engineering systems that prevent waste from ever becoming waste,” said Mr. Madhusudhan Agalpady, Founder and Managing Director of Maav Industries Ltd. “We’ve spent years building a closed-loop model for plastics, and scaling this further demonstrates how technology, partnerships, and public engagement can deliver industrial growth alongside environmental responsibility.”

Maav’s recycling system processes a wide range of post-use plastic, such as broken furniture, crates, and packaging, and transforms it into durable, reusable products. These efforts directly support India’s circular economy goals by reducing landfill waste and minimizing dependence on virgin raw materials.
